A call for your help.

I have been struggling with insurance to get an fm hearing device for Liam for over a year now. I've come to the realization that it's not going to happen. So I am now throwing my hope into you, and your generosity.


Liam was diagnosed with auditory processing disorder some time ago, and uses this device at school to help him hear his teacher. Auditory processing disorder is not a problem with the actual ear but with how the brain processes the information the ear sends to it. So, just as the name implies, it a problem with the brain processing the auditory signals.

For Liam, it is impossible to focus on one speaker in noisy environment. Even the hum of an air conditioner can make it difficult for him to hear a speaker. When background noise is present, he often mistakes what is being said completely. It's contributing so much to his learning difficulties. He still doesn't have a good sound recognition. IE he is unaware of what sounds each of our letters produce. He just now, at 7, has for the most part mastered the alphabet. And I really wonder how much of his apraxia could be attributed to his auditory processing disorder. It's certainly not helping matters. I really want to get him an fm system at home so that we can get more information to him. I am so concerned about him because he has repeated Kindergarten this year and really needs to repeat Kindergarten again as he hasn't mastered the curriculum. The FM system helps, and here is how: Liam wears a hearing aid mold on both ears. The speaker he needs to focus on wears a microphone on their shirt which directly sends signal to Liam's hearing aid mold with an fm boot. What the speaker says is slightly amplified and is free of background interference as it is going directly into Liam's ear. Liam can hear what is being said to him, loud and clear! And he has less of a barrier to learn.

Like I said, I can't get insurance to cover this. I am asking for friends, family, and strangers to please help us out and make a donation. Once we reach our goal of 3,000$ I will purchase the FM and post a video of Liam thanking everyone (wearing his new gear of course!). Partly so that you all know I'm not some greedy scammer, but mostly so that you all can share in our joy! Thank you very much for reading this and considering donating!
