2007- I am a young mother to two little boys. Elliot is 2 years old and Liam is 4. This blog is all about my son Liam who has several challenges making speech very difficult and possibly unattainable. For now, he uses American Sign Language as his means of alternative communication while he continues speech therapy and searching for his voice.
2010- My babies are growing up. Liam is 7 and Elliot is 5. Happy to say speech is attainable for Liam. He talks now! While he still needs speech therapy everyday- he has a voice! New struggles: Kindergarten curriculum (he's repeated it once and is really not ready to move up to 1st) & auditory processing disorder. He uses an fm hearing device at school.
2012- Liam is doing great. He no longer thinks about apraxia daily or any of the rest of it. Liam is Liam. And even sweeter as he grows. He's working on learning to bake bread. And collecting objects to build robots. He is the family go to guy for all things electronics that need a fix up. He's speaking English swimmingly and actually working on his third language, Japanese! Elliot has let his creative side shine and he is loving dancing and singing and acting. He is still the best brother in the world. They both are. This summer we got back to nature hiking all over the beautiful parks of Oregon, watching many a sunsets and visiting the Beach. It was much needed healing time. One day, one moment at a time. Living Life and Loving it.
